Sitting around a room with English, American, Canadian, Spanish, and French people, discussing languages, is always entertaining and enlightening. While I’ve mastered the use of ‘chav’ I don’t think I’ll ever reach full understanding of the meaning and usage of ‘cheeky nando’s.’ The true test will come this week while I’m in London.
It’s amazing how different groups of people, who seemingly speak the same language, can have such different vocabularies, and even different meanings for the same exact phrases. The confusion and entertainment only multiplies when you throw different languages into the mix.
Exploring and learning slang and vernacular is something I’ll never get tired of.
